Communities
Fairfax County is the most populated in
the Commonwealth and the third largest jurisdiction in the metropolitan area.
While rich in colonial history, the county has enjoyed unprecedented growth in recent years as the influx of new technology and industrial firms has created "Silicon Valley East."
Tysons Corner, in the northeast, has grown to
be a major financial center with an expanding list of venture capital, financial services
and banking firms.
The county offers an extensive selection of housing and community choices, ranging from the more urban settings inside the beltway to traditional suburban, planned communities in the western and southern areas of the county.
Fairfax is served by more than sixty shopping centers, including four large regional malls at Fair Oaks, Tysons Corner, Tysons II Galleria and the Springfield Mall.
