2009 median price and real estate tax rates for each of our major jurisdictions are summarized above. the shaded boundary marks the average for the northern virginia region. tax rates are adjusted each january and reflect both the market value of homes and the city/county's budget requirements. with a continued decrease in home prices, we expect rate increases in most of the jurisdictions next year. loudoun county which has the highest rate (1.245) is also under the greatest fiscal pressure due to its rapidy growing school budget.
